While DJ Wanda is out at the spa, Howdylicious! is also getting treatments done by Ms. Jen who is updating the blogging software and re-structuring various bits and bobs, as well as giving Howdylicious! a visual make-over!

Howdylicious! should be done with her make-over and work in a day or two. In the meantime, please ignore the construction dust.

Thanks!

Update 03.27.13 at 3:18pm: We are nearly done! Thank you for your patience.

Thanks to the nice folks in Chicago at the Beechwood Reporter who did this nice piece on Howdylicious! You made me blush with all the nice things you said - and I didn't even know about this article until someone sent it to me! And they used a very fun picture of me!

Here's an excerpt:

Howdylicious!
By Don Jacobson

Out in the suburban expanse of Southern California is a little lady named Wanda who'll steer you right when it comes to the best roots music in sight: she's running a great, Internet-streamed radio show that Minnie Pearl could yodel from one end of the O.C. to the other.

First, you've gotta love its name: Howdylicious! (Sunday nights, 10 p.m. Central, KUCI-FM). Delicious songs that step right up and say "howdy."

DJ_Wanda.jpgThen, when you look at the playlist, you think, "why isn't all radio like this"? DJ Wanda has a great and varied amount of lovely, twangy stuff, all the way from '40s Western Swing to new bands like James McMurtry and the Sadies. She's got a wonderful, funny smart-ass attitude that probably comes from holding down an English professor job while also working at the Orange County Transit Authority to make ends meet. The only way to do all that as well as being a top alt-country tastemaker, she says, is to read a lot, listen to music constantly and not waste your time watching any TV.

She also named herself after Wanda Jackson, so you know she's probably going to "blow like dynamite" at the drop of a needle into plastic (plus, unlike so many roots rock fests, you know the ladies will be well represented).

Congratulations, Justin Townes Earle

Benefit Show for Thomas Yearsley

There will be a benefit Show for Tom of the Paladins featuring:
Candye Kane, Karling Abbeygate, Thomas Yearsleys Exotiki and The Blasters Sunday, September 19 at the Redwood Bar and Grill in Los Angeles. Check it out! The money goes to a good cause!

Thomas Yearsley, longtime bass player of The Paladins was hit by a train on the evening of Aug 16th while trying to save his dog from the same. He was Life-Flighted away to Scripps Hospital in La Jolla, CA. He suffered a broken leg and other injuries, unfortunately his dog Swango didn't survive. Like many musicians, Thomas didn't have insurance and the money from the benefit show will go to offset his medical costs.
